Lake of Nantua
Of glacial origins, featuring a surface of 141 ha with a maximum depth of 50m, lake Nantua is the largest natural lake in the Département. A wide variety of fish live in its waters: perch, pike, lake trout (large fish), carp and other white fish. Fishing carp by night is possible at the Pré Cadgène La Cluse. An important fishing contest, open to all, is held each year in July: «L’Esche à tout». Lake Nantua is managed by the Nantua AAPPMA, a body grouping 52 associations from the Ain Département.
Fishing licences available as day-pass or holidaypass (15-day licences) on sale at the Tobacconist Au Pêcheur Qui Fume (+33 (0)4 74 75 10 74) and at Nantua Tourist Office (+33 (0)4 74 75 00 05).

Putting your boat in lake Nantua : If you want to put your boat on the lake for the day please refer to Nantua town hall. For use of the waterways and monthly mooring permits for motor boats, please send a written request to Nantua town hall, together with your permit, insurance certificate, and proof of abode.
