Established in a former prison dating from the XIXth century, it is one of the main regional museums dedicated to the second World War period. Many collections gathered by Resistance fighters and deportees, relate the events in a chronological order, and also according to different themes adapted to the layout of the former prison cells: the rise of Nazism, the occupation, the Resistance and the Maquis of the Ain, deportation. Exhibition “Propaganda, counter-propaganda” until 30th September 2008: the exhibition presents the different materials used by the German and Vichy propaganda machines, also by the Résistance fighters. Radio broadcasts, films, posters... sought to convince the population. Additional information concerning the graphic techniques used at the time provide further insight into the propaganda images and methods.
Open from 1st April to 30th September Tuesday to Sunday, from 10 am to 1 pm and from 2 pm to 6 pm. Open the rest of the year for groups, upon reservation. |

A40 motorway construction museum

Exhibition dedicated to the construction of the A.40 motorway connecting Pont d’Ain with Chamonix, also known as the “Autoroute des Titans” because it successively crosses over gigantic bridges and passes through huge tunnels.
Open everyday from 9 am to 7 pm. Access on the A40 Mâcon-Geneva direction, via the Sylans rest area.
